The wheel as mathematics
Drawn from hundreds of hairline curves, this piece treats the flag as an exercise in geometry — and geometry is precisely what sits at the flag’s centre.
The Ashoka Chakra is a full circle divided with perfect evenness: 24 spokes, one every 15 degrees, no more and no less. That arithmetic is why the wheel reproduces flawlessly at every scale the specifications allow — identical in character on a table flag of 150 by 100 millimetres and on the vast banners of parade mornings. The flag keeps a little trigonometry at its heart, and it has never once been off by a degree.
