Polished mast, disciplined ripple — this is the flag in its civic best, the way it stands before institutions. Its newest institutional posting is barely three years old.

On 28 May 2023, India inaugurated its new Parliament House — the triangular successor rising beside the century-old circular chamber — and the tricolour took up its station above the seat of the legislature’s new home. The building changed; the flag’s duty did not: Parliament remains one of the addresses where the national flag flies every day of the year.
