Ranked on their golden stands, these miniatures wait for a conference table or a dais — the form the flag takes when nations sit down to talk. The smallest official size in BIS IS 1, at 150 × 100 millimetres, exists for precisely this duty.

Small does not mean casual. The Flag Code lets the public wave paper flags on days of celebration, and it adds the instruction people forget by evening: those flags are never to be thrown on the ground when the parade ends. Like their full-size elders, the miniatures leave the field privately and with dignity.
