What rises with the flag

This card builds the day out of paper: doves mid-flight, bunting strung in saffron and green, flowers pressed flat around the Chakra. The doves are no accident — they carry the same promise the flag’s white band does, peace at the centre of the celebration.

And when the real flag rises on 26 January, it never rises alone. The national anthem rises with it — Jana Gana Mana, written by Rabindranath Tagore and adopted on 24 January 1950, two days before the republic was born. Sung in full, it takes exactly 52 seconds: the shortest, most repeated soundtrack the tricolour has.
